Can a roof mounted a/c be installed on my 64 Globetrotter as it is, without having to reinforce the roof. If so, does it have to go where the fan is or can it be installed in place of the skylight?
The '64 has a similar vent layout as my Globetrotter '67 did. On the GT a Coleman unit was installed midships. I do not know if it had the roof reinforced. I recall seeing a video where someone was using 2X2 wood to fill the space between the inner and outer skins under the A/C on a '60's rig.
I added an A/C unit to the '72 Tradewind between the center and rear vents and did have to reinforce the roof with aluminum channel.
Your 64 may be pre-wired for an air conditioner. Look for a black, un-attached romex 2 conductor wire close to your breaker box. Other Globetrotter experts may be able to confirm this.
It's a smaller trailer so you won't need the 15,000 btu size.
