A/C Ceiling Panel Installation

OK, I recently acquired a 1984 34' Limited. Renovation is in full swing. One of the first things to go was the original A/C. I replaced it with the Carrier low profile 15K btu unit. The new unit looks and works great. However, due to the curvature of the ceiling, the interior ceiling panel does not fit flush with the ceiling. There is a noticable gap in the center of the panel between the panel and the ceiling.

Can anything be done to make it look right on the inside? I searched the forums, but was unable to find a topic addressing this issue.

Thanks,

Panabax

You could scribe using a circle compass. Set the pencil at the widest gap (most likely the center of the cover) and trace outward. Cut with a coping saw just outside of the line and sand smoothe. I'm assuming the outer edges are touching the ceiling. Refit to AC and touch up areas as needed.
