73 Land Yacht needs a new compressor

Sadly the compressor on my 73 Airstream land Yacht 25ft has rusted through and leaked the oil and freon out. Anyone know if an Armstrong compressor is still available for this old original unit.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,

TomW on the forums had his 67 compressor and fan motor replaced, below is his web site detailing the process. It might help you.

Usually, the cost for a new compressor, installed becomes prohibitive, when compared to the price of a new AC.

When the AC stopped working on my 75 Trade Wind I also considered repairing the unit. Then I noticed that the top of the shroud was cracked and missing a few pieces. Repairing the old unit and replacing the cover would cost about the same as a new unit. I ordered a new Carrier Low Profile with the heat strip option and had it delivered (from Florida) for a very reasonable price. The installation will be an event at the 4CU Restoration Rally next month in Albuquerque.
