'72 Overlander AC fan hums when off

My AC on my 72 overlander works great, but the outside fan just barely hums when it is turned off unless you turn off the breaker.
Any ideas what the problem is?

Relay??

Sounds like the relay that switches it from start to run is not disconnecting the run winding when it should.

I think you will find that a 24 volt AC transformer is humming, and not the fan.

I had a similar issue with my 72 trade wind. It turned out that one of the windings on the motor was bad. My symptoms were that the blower motor was actually running with the ac off. I thought I had discovered perpetual motion. I even took a video of the motor running with the neutral wire disconnected.
