69 Ambassador

I need to replace my Armstrong ac unit. How do I remove the inside shroud and upper unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Start drilling out rivets on the inside shroud after removing fan blades. On outside start unscrewing the unit frame or housing from the top of the AS. There's a couple of rivets inside the frame/ housing. You will have to cut the Freon lines after recovering the R22 coolant. Cut them where you can pull straight down into the inside of your AS. To remove inner cooling coils. Make sure power Is cut/ breaker is open and cut the power supply lines keeping as much slack as you can. Good luck. Jim

And recycle the unit, offer it for parts before scrapping it if you can. Some of us like trying to fix these things. Thanks. Jim

I'm still looking for the interior plastic cover if you have one.

Oh maybe 69 had a different Armstrong AC than my 71?
The interior plastic cover was missing on mine when I got it so I'm now even sure what it looks like.

I think the '69 was a changeover year. There are differences from the '68 & '70.
