2005 DuoTherm Penguin Drip Pan/Cups
Does anyone know if you have to pull the AC unit to access this drip pan/reservoir on this model unit. Model 600315.321
I have been trying to track down the source of my leak from the intake onto the floor inside. It seems to only do it at certain times but I think I see its coming from where the drain hose fitting attaches to the drip cup reservoir. It looks like it has a bunch of gunked up gray sealant on it and either was attempted to be fixed by PO or was done like that when installed. I don't see anyway to get to it and fix it correctly or replace that pan without pulling the unit????

My pan had some hairline cracks close where the hose connects. I sealed them with two-part epoxy. It was either JB Water Weld or Quik-steel.

After washing the 2011 today I noticed they use the now discontinued pan plus the drip cups, you can see them protruding from the cut pan sides.
My 1991 trailer that I replaced the orig unit on with a new penguin had a pan only(and cracked) and the new unit uses only cups and are visible from the exterior, both styles are plumbed the same and you have exposed that with the removed inner trim.

Ok removed the drain fitting and found that was where it was leaking from. Drip pan was cracked around the fitting and sealant had come loose. It appears this is how it was installed from the factory!😳. They drilled a hole through the drip pan stuck a nylon hose barb with an electrical box washer and then lots of grey sealant. 🤪🤪. Guess they figured it would outlast the warranty. Tricky part is you have no room to work without pulling the unit. Off to the dealership to get them to look at the parts diagram. All the schematics I fine online don’t show me a lot.

Ok removed AC unit and removed old drip pan assembly and installed dometic drip cup assembly 3107688.016. Drain pan assembly was stuck to the roof with self leveling dicor material.... took me about 3 hours to get it off and scrape up the old material. I had to get a sawzall between the plastic pan and aluminum chassis to cut through the Dicor and basically had to rip the pan off.

Once unit is down turn on side or over and mount gasket and cups per directions. Since mine was an older unit I did not have the black gasket already on the AC so I made one out of Blue styrofoam I had. I was out of time so I did this. I would recommend buying another new gasket there about 16-20 bucks. Mount the cups per directions cut a space in gasket per directionsna connect the two cups via the hose and clamps. The Tee goes close to the drains hose and I had to go buy a 1/2” barbed elbow to make this work the AS hose is very flexible and when you try and attach it to the tee it kinks which would cause the water to back up.

So that’s the pile of Dicor I scraped off the roof. I took some paint with it and couple of the river heads got shaved from the sawzall... I set the Black gasket on top of the blue gasket I made then I put a layer of butyal tape down and sat the AC in place. Directions do not call for that but it made me feel better about the seal. Also my unit has 2 mounting bolts in front land only 1 in the middle in the rear. When I snugged the unit up I can see that the foam gasket is uneven in the rear so I am ordering some bolts and going to add 2 more in the rear to even out the pressure on the gasket.
Overall pretty easy upgrade just a lot of labor. If you have my year model or the old drip pan make sure you have an extra gasket. The kit come with 1 but you need 2. Also I think the 1/2 elbow for the hose connections is a must. The foam gasket is high quality but makes me nervous in keeping rain out and sealing tight. I considered putting more Dicor down and setting the gasket in the Dicor but an RV service tech said it just makes a mess and if you ever replace the gasket you have to do what I did and scrape that crap off for hours.
