I bought this 86 Argosy and have been restoring it mostly inside since exterior is in really good condition. The furnace was missing. It has 2 holes on the exterior side by side. Does any one know what furnace it takes? The original specs calls for 30000BTU. thanks John.
Generally Airstream/Argosy used Suburban furnaces in that time frame. However, most all Suburban furnaces have the holes top to bottom, not side by side. So someone with that same Argosy is going to have to tell you what was in there originally.
It sounds like it was put in there sideways. You never told us what size Argosy trailer it is. I did not think they made Argosy trailers past the 70's. You sure it is not a 76? It was probably an NT30 originally. NT30 SP would be the modern version of that furnace. I am not sure why the holes are side by side. Most of the time they are vertical.
Well what did he have in there in the first place? He can use an NT30SP as long as it is correctly oriented. I think even the Atwoods have the vents one on top of the other. I would use the NT30SP and just make a patch plate to cover the old holes and you can out the new holes in that same plate.
No one seems to know what furnace it originally had since the outside holes are side by side. I'm going to install a Atwood since the cut out for the furnace will remove the two holes for the new frame.
