1975 Argosy roof AC, recharge?

The roof AC on my 1975 Argosy does not blow cold air, it blows and runs fine otherwise. Can I just call the HVAC shop and have it re-charged or should I scrap it for a new one?

Also, there is a thermostat on the rear wall, is this for the roof AC? It doesn't seem to have any affect one way or the other?

The answer depends upon the make of your Air Conditioner. If it is an Armstrong Bay Breeze, it probably is repairable. Just don't take it to an RV dealer as their standard refrain is replace. An air conditioning technician who repairs commercial cooling equipment may be your best bet as the replacement parts typically come from the same sources as commercial units.

The Armstrong Bay Breeze units were typically thermostatically controlled. In my Overlander, there were two thermostats side-by-side with one controlling the furnace and the other controlling the air conditioner. There is a label on one -- in very fine lettering -- air conditioning --- the label is below the termperature scale.

Good luck with your investigation!
