The answer depends upon the make of your Air Conditioner. If it is an Armstrong Bay Breeze, it probably is repairable. Just don't take it to an RV dealer as their standard refrain is replace. An air conditioning technician who repairs commercial cooling equipment may be your best bet as the replacement parts typically come from the same sources as commercial units.
The Armstrong Bay Breeze units were typically thermostatically controlled. In my Overlander, there were two thermostats side-by-side with one controlling the furnace and the other controlling the air conditioner. There is a label on one -- in very fine lettering -- air conditioning --- the label is below the termperature scale.
