My 71 Tradewind has the original Armstrong A/C unit.It has a remote thermostat, like in a home A/C.
I was told by a local airstream service center that these units can't be recharged?
It runs, i can hear the compressor come on, but after a short time ( 3-5 min.) The compressor goes off, the blower keeps going, the air does not get very cold. The compressor won't come on again.
I figured it needs a recharge, perhaps a looksee by an expert. Does anyone know about these oder A/C units? Am I buying a new A/C soon?
Your best bet is to try to get a regular AC guy to look at it. The system is the same as a home AC and the Armstrong's used commercial grade components. They can be serviced but you will have to call around and find someone willing to work on it.
