Replacing orriginal AC on 69 Sovereign

I am planning to replace the original armstrong in my 69 sovereign with a new Coleman Mach3 AC/Heat Pump. Any advice on how to create and brace the 14 inch cut for installing a new unit. I started taking apart the old AC and now realize perhaps it would have been better to try and fix the original one, but since I've taken out the inside trailer ceiling assembly and cut the coolant tubes I'm probably past that point. We no longer drive the trailer, it serves as a stationary guest room. Thanks (

The inside pan was rusted out, and the coils on top were really in bad shap. Copressor was dead, and the blower motor as well. So whole new unit for me! If any one has photos of how they braced the 14" cut out that would be great.

Jim great talking with you. One more additional thought. I added PT2x4 to frame in the opening, but if I was to do it again I would have a square tube (aluminum) made for the correct height. I think that might last longer than the wood. I think it was TOP that had a page that described how to do this.

Not all those who wonder are lost.
