Do you need to put a pizza stone or tile in the oven to even out the heat like on other rv ovens?

Our CU434 stoves arrived at the Dallas Terminal on the 24th. They were supposed to go to their Ft Worth terminal for delivery, but there was a roof collapse at that Ft Worth terminal on the 23rd. So all the freight is still in Dallas. They expect delivery now to be Monday out of Dallas and we are hoping the stoves do not get damaged in all bedlam at that terminal.

If I got one of these then I'd have to upgraded the ugly Ventline box stove vent. I kinda like the Corian stove top cover on my Classic. Could it be done on the CU434?

I hope someone will do a review on this oven including cooking/baking experience.

The CU434 has a square piece of glass lid that is about 18" tall front to back when laying flat. The hinge point is below counter top height so it extends about 16" above the counter top.

Since they are made in Italy, the lid hinges would not be the punched out flat steel "Hinge" the Atwood/Dometic uses since that is a very cheap stamping. The existing folding lid of the with Corian might not even fit due to the difference in the measurements.

More will be revealed to me during the installation in early May, first in the 23D and second in our Classic.

Not quite finished installing it yet (need to install two small trim pieces along the edge of the either wall) but figured I'd update the thread with a recent picture for those following.

Nice install, but why is there a handle above the door handle?

I think that's so you can hang dish towels and that sort of thing.

Hmm. If your hang towels there then open the oven door then close you will have to move the towel out of the way every time.

Is there a light in the oven? If so DC or AC? Does it require a special bulb?

Yup, there's a light. DC. Not sure what kind of bulb it takes...

The oven light bulb most likely will be only a special order item "Not available in any store, order now" as they say on television.

Will be taking the 23D to A&P Vintage Trailer Works in Paradise, TX for the install of a Dometic CU434 stove and a Vitrifrigo DP150i refrigerator on 9 May. There also be a WiFi Ranger added to the electronics bay and a vertical barrier to the DVD cabinet to keep the manuals stored on top of the DVD cabinet from shifting toward street side. The conversion to auto-adjust 10" drum brakes and new Timken bearings will also be accomplished.

The bulb is encased in some sort of special glass casing. Doesn't look like the bulb is anything special. Here's a pic:

Update on my project...

The first cu-434 range I order from "the duke" arrived in bad condition - all smashed up by ups. Still working through the claims process to get my $$ back on that one.

So I had timeless travel trailers here in Denver order a second one directly from dometic. Their distributor is in Salt Lake City so not too far from Denver. Well, it showed up all smashed.

So they ordered another one (3rd range now). Smashed.

4th one is on order and will arrive Monday. Dometic are promising it will be triple packed. We'll see. It's the last item needed to complete our renovation. Pictures to follow if this one shows up in one piece!

Are the CU-434 made in Italy? If so then they make it across the Atlantic OK but can't be delivered to the end customer from a Dometic warehouse? What's it packed in a thin cardboard box? How much do they weigh? It should be easy enough to haul around with a light hand dolly. How frustrating.

Not sure where they were made. The first one was packed with 2 thin layers of cardboard with some bubble wrap. Not sure how the others that came from Dometic were packed - they were shipped straight to Timeless.

They are light - about 50lbs.

The two Dometic CU434 stoves arrived in good shape at the installer's location in Paradise, TX.

The larger Vitrifrigo DP2600 refrigerator arrived and had a damaged trim piece that goes completely around the unit. The cost for the delivered replacement was just over $400 and was covered by the trucker's insurance. The smaller DP150iL arrived along with it's larger sibling but with no damage.

Wow, smashed 3 times? That's horrible, what a disappointment. Mine was a little bent upon arrival too, but opted to bend it back myself instead of sending it back. The packaging was "ok", not great, but not much padding between the outside of the box and the edges of the stove.

Glad you were able to get a replacement!

How has the range worked out for you? I want to replace ours, I don't like it at all. Do you have to stand on your head to light the oven? I see that each burner has its on pan holder rather than one for all 3. Has that been an issue? How is it to clean? I am so dissatisfied with ours I could write a book.
