Why do all replacement ranges look so cheap?

Hey there - we just got the trailer back so our First trip with the stove will be this weekend. Overall the quality is much higher than our previous unit. It has 12 V electric start! No more crawling on the floor with a long match to light the oven pilot light.

Same for the burners - they are electric start as well and seem to have a reasonable range of high-med-low-simmer.

The oven also has a light and of course the glass door so you can monitor the food.

The fact that the glass lid sits flush with the counter is super nice as it provides more usable counter space, especially in a smaller galley like ours.

The little potholders / grills come off I believe so I suspect it will be pretty easy to clean like our last one.

The only downside so far is that the oven itself is a bit smaller than our last one. But overall - electric start, build quality, esthetics, integration with the counter top, light with glass door, etc... It was well worth it at $850 new from dometic compared to $500-600 for an Atwood stove.

Just make sure they ship it on a pallet! We had 3 stoves show up all smashed from shipping. They are delicate. 4th one came on a pallet

How'd did it cook? Do the temperatures of the oven match the knob settings better?

No need for a pizza stone to keep the temperatures even?

If a recipe for baking states so many minutes did the item cook within that time or did you have to cook longer?

Have not cooked in it yet. Just got the trailer back. We are camping this weekend and I'll try to cook a pizza and report back

I have the CU434 in my '15 Classic and I have used the oven about 20 times. (Yes, I bake...a LOT!) If you look in the oven, you'll see the burner arrangement is a straight line across the very back of the oven. The heating is NOT even. The further you place stuff toward the back of the oven, the higher likelihood it'll get done early. I do have a pizza stone in the bottom, though I don't know if that helps all that much. IMHO it needs some kind of a diffusing apparatus over the top of the flames to better distribute the heat and even out the temperature. Maybe then I wouldn't have to turn stuff so often! Other than that, the stove is a quantum improvement over the cheesy cook tops/stoves in the other trailers. It is really elegant....and the electric start for burners and oven works flawlessly. I am careful with the glass cover....I can only imagine what it would cost to replace it. Will be anxious to hear from others on their oven experiences.

Since I am traveling solo and this is a work trip, the decorative woman touches are not along, so it looks little barren.

From BAB's cooking performance report I don't feel replacing my stove/oven is justified. Also, my stove top cover has Corian on it and integrates with the counter top which is a more robust surface.

An update and question on my Dometic CU-434...

I noticed today that the rear left burner will no longer light. There is a visible spark, and I can smell propane when I press in the knob, but no flames. I've tried to light it with the spark ignitor for up to five seconds with the gas knob pushed in, but it still wouldn't light. I am reluctant to let gas flow through the burner any longer than that for fear gas build up.

The other turn burners work fine.

Do I need a new burner? Or do I just need to adjust the ignitor for a different spark?

Any advice is appreciated.

If you can smell gas but it is not lighting that says the gas is coming out someplace other than at the burner. Check the tubing leading to the burner to make sure it has not come apart from the burner. If you attempt any additional lighting, while looking for the leak, I would use a open flame such as a torch and be prepared to see it light beyond where you think it should light.

It works and flames come from the burner when I use a lighter. Doesn't spark + propane usually = flame? I'm confused. Is the spark not big enough or something? The spark is clearly visible, and the gas is definitely coming out of the burner...

Unfortunately, no. We just don't use that burner. I suspect the spark just isn't big enough to ignite the gas (had a similar problem with my furnace at one point) but I can't seem to adjust it. Dometic said to take it to a dealer to fix it, but it's a lot of work to do that so we've just haven't been using that burner. Sort of a bummer.

Our is getting installed along with our other appliances while I'm traveling for family matters. I'm excited to check it our when I get home in a little over a week. [emoji2] Hope everything works.

Got our CU-434 installed recently - not plumbed, but I finished the housing for it. Countertops (2 cm thick manmade quartz) were dropped off yesterday as well.

Because neither my lower cabinet - nor their measurements - were perfectly square, I'll have to make minor adjustments to the cabinet using a sander or jigsaw... and they'll have to recut the piece between the oven and bulkhead wall. I'm confident we'll get the oven flush against the stone on both sides and mark this off the to-do list.
