Vintage Appliances - Where are they?
Does anyone know of any pickers or another source of vintage RV appliances? I would love to replace mine in the galley of my Cruisette but don't even know where to begin to look. Do I have to buy a donor canned ham? HELP!!

Hey Kelly,
I think they have all been bought up by hipsters to use in worshipping container apartments.
Sorry, no appliances but I have a vintage yellow toilet. I'll save it for you or you can pick it up any time.

I think vintage fridges can be made to work, but ranges are (in my experience) a different story- the valves have mercury and are impossible, if not difficult to replace. I bought a second range like the one in my '64 because it was available. When my oven valve and two of the burners went out- no control, it was scary, I took the two ovens to be made into one working oven. After three tries, shopping all over the US online for replacement valves, listed in catalogs but no longer available, I gave up and bought a new range. It may be for the much older white appliances you can jury-rig a new valve to fit. Good luck with it!

If I have a working original Dometic frig from my 1972 and it works should I replace it since I am replacing everything else or keep it??
I don't want to finish the project and have to take out down the road.

Duke: by range, I mean the combination, 21" cooktop/oven. I didn't take the easy way to purchasing another range, I bought the interior from a similar AS from a guy in PA, and then picked up a bunch of it when I drove through there (I live in California) and drove the duplicate stove home. I also looked online and saw a lot of ranges available, but when I tried to get the controls repaired or replaced for mine, there were none to be found. The new stove is a Seaward Princess, made for a boat and much higher quality than Atwood or other RV ranges. Now I see that they're being discontinued...

Keep us posted, I hope you can get an old range to work. The Magic Chef that was in ours was great, baked really well. Seaward/Whale are not making the same one that I have, which I got two years ago. The cooktops appear to have the same burners, which are first class
Whale Marine - Products
and then Sure Marine has these, the two burner version of what I have.
Sure Marine Service, Inc. | Seaward
I cook a lot while camping (well, always) and like to be able to bake stuff for rally pot lucks, so an oven was important to me. It seems like a lot of people make do with a microwave or something else.
