Tappan Microwave??

I just plugged the trailer into the house electrical and the microwave is on and will not stop running -no matter what buttons I push. I also flipped the circuit breakers and then placed them back on and that did nothing as well. Any suggestions?

You're saying that when you disconnected the circuit by flipping the circuit breakers, the micro was still operating? Which breakers specifically did you shut off?

Unplug the trailer if all else fails!

I would say that your microwave has a malfunction in the control board and since these usually can not be repaired economically, you should probably get a new one.

If you flipped off the marked breaker in the trailer for the micro and it did not shut down, the breaker is mis-marked. Try all of the others until you fine the correct one that controls the circuit for the micro.

Now that would be a Haunting. When I flipped the circuit in hopes of reseting, the microwave stopped, but when I flipped it back on (the circuit) the microwave immediatly turned back on and began to run.
That may be a Haunting as well, hmmmm?

I feel much better now!

Anyway, I would think that your main board is shot in the micro. We usually don't work on them, as they too have become a disposable item considering the high cost or tech labor and diagnostics. You'll probably find a replacement far cheaper than trying to fix yours.

My microwave will not even heat water when installed in my trailer. The microwave runs but won't heat up anything.

I removed it from my trailer and it heats water and works OK when out of the trailer.

Any suggestions???

i'd suggest you put a volt meter on that line with the microwave running and report back.

mcrickc -- If your trailer is under warranty you should get a replacement microwave at no cost to you. Our Tappan microwave had similar symptoms as yours on our first outing, and our trailer was just a couple of months old.

We found out tht the maker ICM will replace the microwave for free during the first year (the microwave has a one year warranty from the maker). A simple phone call got us a new one quickly. Upon receipt of the new one, they ask you to cut off the end of the electric cord (the plug) and mail it back to them.

See more about our experience at:

Is it actually heating while it's running when it shouldn't?

Does it stop when the door is opened?

The most common causes of this are a bad door switch or door switch mount, or a problem on the control board such as a stuck relay.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site.

If you think it's the control panel, we can usually repair those for $39.95 for customers nationwide.
