Stove Top Powder Coating

Finally getting around to taking the stove parts in for powder coating. My original thought was to use this stainless paint process on the parts.
Consumer Reports Video Hub - Home & Garden - Home Improvement - Stainless Steel Paint

Decided instead to let the pros do it since it needed abrasive blasted to remove the rust properly. We're having the folding top done also but it at least wasn't rusted. Here's the before of the two worse parts. I'll post back the finished photos when it's done.

Good move...Let the pros do it. I have had several things powder coated and have my stove top and oven from a new stove getting powder coated as I type. I had my 73 stove powder coated over three years ago and it looks great except a few scratches from somebody cutting food on the top. GGGGRRRR!

Brian - they warned me that the area around the burners may take on a light brown color over time from the heat (like older gas ranges in homes did). Have you noticed that on yours.....

Finally Done

Picked the finished product up today. Shot once with color and twice with clear coat.

Powder Coating

Nice looking parts now! Keep us updated as to wear and tear. This will help others decide on whether or not to use this method to renew their painted items. Thanks! Ed

what does something like this cost?

just out of curiosity, what is the material of the original? is it nickel plated steel? looks like stainless, but stainless wouldn't rust like these do...or would it?

looks great, btw.

I believe the original was nickle plate. It was $125 if you wanted it done right away - $100 if you waited until they had something else to coat in the same color.
