Stove cover 1971 Overlander

Does anyone know how to remove the sliding stove cover from the stove top? It is pitted and I nedd to get it refinished.
Thanks

We used a screw driver to pry ours off. I covered it with aluminum shelf paper. It looks nice and I can change it out when I get tired of it. I got the paper at lowes. There should be a picture on the forums when I first did it.
Tammy
I will see if I can find it.
