Rusty Overlander stove top

Hi All,
We have a '75 Overlander that we have refurbished but the stove top is rusty, has anyone had this refinished recently and if so what with, where was it done and what do you think of the results. We have been quoted a lot for chroming but we don't need that level of finish for this. The powder coating place in Ohio has done it in the past but don't anymore because of the discolouration from the heat. So any suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks

I disassembled the front and the top, sanded from coarse to fine, primed, and then spray painted with a rustoleum flat metallic and finished with rustoleum clear coat. I did three coats of clear to help give the finish a little more protection from scratches. It's been three years since I painted the stove and I've been very happy with the look and durability.

Rusty stove top in '75 Overlander fix

Hi All, after doing a little research and talking to our gearhead/hotrod friends we ended up sandblasting the top then using the proper primer we spray painted it with stainless steel. Specifically we used KBS Xtreme temperature coating, after blasting, priming and finish spraying we baked it in the oven to 350f for 20 mins as per instructions. The coating is supposed to be good to 1200f and it does look good. I will try to add a before and after picture /Users/britbat1/Desktop/IMG_1578.JPG/Users/britbat1/Desktop/IMG_1725.JPG
Hope this helps others.Vic
