Pilot light lit, but flame doesn't spread.

I can get my pilot light lit easily in my oven, but the flame Rosen' spread even I turn the oven knob to increase the oven temp. The top 4 burners light tine. Thanks!

I think the oven control is not working. I know , duh.

Maybe the thermocoupler portion of the control is broken ?

I am sure it can be fixed, trick is finding someone who still knows how.

When you light the pilot, does it stay lit?
If it stays lit, how long do you wait for the main burner to light before you shut it off?
Do you smell or hear gas coming from the main burner?

The pilot light will stay lit until the oven knob is turned OFF.

You might have a plugged orifice for the oven burner. Small spiders like to build webs in them. With a few small wrenches you should be able to take it apart and clean it out with a wooden tooth pick or wooden match stick. Never use any thing metal only soft wood because you DO NOT want to enlarge the orifice.

We've not used our oven, although I have lit it. If your pilot light is staying lit but the main burner isn't coming on when you turn the temperature up, it may be a bad thermocouple. I'm going from memory here, our trailer is in storage, but typically on gas stoves there is a sensor that should be in the pilot flame (looks like a thick wire, maybe 3/4" long). That sensor has to get hot before the thermocouple will allow gas to flow to the main jet. If the sensor is not in the flame, that would be a problem. If it is in the flame and you can see it's getting red then you probably have a bad thermocouple. Turn off the propane and replace it.
