Oven search

I already posted this in the classifieds but know not everyone goes over there. I hope I'm not breaking rules posting it here. As I start figuring out cabinet work needed, we've decided to go back to the original 3 burner stove top and seperate oven on our 66 overlander.

I need to go back by NWoverlander's shop this weekend and pick up the range top, which I'll need to get replated, powder coated or something.

What it didnt have was the original oven. I've been looking but haven't found a seperate oven, only ranges. Does anyone have a mid-60's oven they aren't planning on using that we could work out a deal on?

thanks, I'm guessing since you can't see wood on our 66 yet, you're looking at pictures of our 69 tradewind we finished this spring (is anything ever really finished?).

Our 69 we tried to document on this thread: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f116...ind-34591.html

All woodwork forward of the bathroom wall was 100% constructed from scratch using photos, appliance measurements and hints from holes in the floor from screws etc and other ghost markings from original parts. The floor runs continuously under all the main cabinets. Of course if the floor had to be replaced, goucho, dinette, refrigerator would have to be disconnected etc, but we wanted a seamless look, not a patched look. thanks for the compliments, we loved working on it so much we've just started on this 66 overlander.

coating for stove

I don't know if you have taken care of your stove top, but there is a coating that is used on car headers, etc. It is ceramic based and will not chip if done correctly. All rust will have to be removed. There are several companies around the country that do this coating. It is similar to powder coating but more resilient. If interested I can let you know some companies that do the coating and you can contact them. Lee

Our 71 Ambassador 29ft came with a brand new stove top and oven in a box. It doesnt fit my unit and am willing to part with it. Make an offer....
I haven't removed it from the original box, just opened the box to see what was in it. I carefully moved it into my garage to have more room in the trailor. It weighs a ton, and shipping would be costly. I live in Maine.

goransons,
If you cannot find an OEM oven perhaps a replacement? There was a thread on here about SMEV they make both cooktops and ovens. FWIW my '75 has the separate oven, but I suspect it no longer works (I could get the pilot but not the thermostat to work) There are 2 suspect parts, you replace the first and if it doesn't work, you replace the second. The cost of the two parts is about half the cost of the new SMEV oven....so the choices go on and on

well we're really down to two options, one is to find an oven in good shape, hopefully reasonably close, clean in up and reinstall in factory location, or option B will be to replace the oven/stove with a range on the curb side (where the oven was) and rework the street side to eliminate the "L" in the counter to more open up the middle of the trailer. That means relocating the hood vent outside, with a patch on the skin which doesn't excite me much, but also somewhat practical to remove the possible cooking odors, grease etc blowing out under the awning. Would make a range, small counter and refrigerator on the street side, sink on the curbside with a microwave built into the corner by the door.

As far as recoating, our local powder coat shop has some high temp stuff they said would work great, had it in a lot of colors.

Still on the fence right now on what to do. Thanks guys for the info, Kaydee sent you an email about the range.
