I have a 2007 Safari with an Amana cooktop/oven. The oven had never been lit. Well, this THANKSGIVING we tried...no luck. The pilot would lite, but would not stay lit without holding in the knob. We held it in for over 5 min, and no luck. Any suggestions. Is there a part we should replace?

We have a 2006 Safari. Ran into oven not lighting issue. I used a bbq lighter to light the pilot and then lit the oven immediately thereafter. Not sure that my pilot would stay lit but if you look for threads on here, balky oven pilot light is a common occurrence that leads many to not even use their ovens.
The therocouple could be loose at the gas vavle. This is the sensor that keeps the pilot lit. It's the thin cooper tube that runs back to the vavle. There is also a pilot height adjustment on the vavle. If the thero doen't get hot it will never stay lit.
