From the homemade telescope community I found a recommendation to use printed circuit etchant commonly sold in pint bottles for a few dollars. It is a ferric chloride solution and will stain most everything it contacts, also removes chrome plating from plumbing fittings, and damages stainless steel sinks. They also said 6%-8% concentration of HCL (hydrochloric acid) with a small amount of CuSO4 (copper sulfate) worked very well.
The mirroring serves a purpose to help cook things evenly by bouncing heat back into the oven with such a huge door glass insert, and since my oven has peeling mirroring that looks a little like tinsel hanging in there that I may try to even the appearance out by reducing the number of stripes to leave only undamaged ones...
