New Oven 1965 Ambassador????????

Have removed the original oven. Would like to purchase new one to replace it in same location. Am discovering all ovens now appear to include stove top range. Is there any source just for an oven for my Airstream????

Seaward Princess Oven

This is what we used in our rebuild: Seaward Princess Gourmet Marine Oven. It is made for RV's and Marine uses so it is suitable for a home on the road. Model 325

The clock and timer are no longer available and that is a shame because I liked that feature but it doesn't always work right. We had the clock and timer mechanism replaced once under warranty but it is again being troublesome. Otherwise, the oven works great and looks great as well. paula

A thousand dollar oven only and they can't get the timer to work? Wow... Well, there doesn't seem to be much of a market any more for the separate oven models. Looks like they Seaward is the only one left!

Oven

I don't remember the cost. I just remember that it was very hard to find an RV oven only. We wanted the cook top to be on the sink side and the oven to be on the other side......I just think driving on our California freeways are tough on electronics......paula

We have found that unless you are using very small pots, the 3 burner cooktops are useless. So we selected the two burner Seaward one.....one burner is larger than the other and it works great. It is this one: Model 2277. I always seem to use a large pot.

Again, we were adamant about using RV rated appliances.....the Gagganaut is very attractive, but the ingnition needs 110 and we wanted everything to work (electronic ignitions) if we are boondocking and using propane......there are no enforcement cops out there that we know of but the trailer is an RV afterall. paula

Modern look

I should add that we were going for a modern look--we were not trying to make our 68 look like the original trailer. We do have a stainless steel countertop....and I am glad we didn't choose the stainless steel cooktop as well because stainless is high maintenance....the countertop is enough. I like the black glass cooktop for ease in cleaning. Our cook top is next to the sink on the curbside near the door. Sometimes the wind is a problem if the door is open......we just have to watch it. paula

Our 68 was trashed inside and the floor was gone in the rear so we gutted the whole thing. So we have a vintage 68 on the outside and a 2009 on the inside.....we are thrilled with the results. (Uwe Salwender did the design/rebuild) paula

Wow!!!!!!

You did an amazing job. Mine is all original wood in very good condition. I was planning to keep it as original as possible but new appliances for safety etc. but yours makes me think that a full rehab can result in a very impressive end result.. my floor is solid too, except for a need for full bathroom rehab......

Thanks for the kind words

We didn't really have a choice in keeping our original interior. We had the 3 burner cooktop that made an L shape with the sink and it was not in good shape anymore as well. My husband wanted a new trailer anyway and I wanted Vintage so we both got what we wanted. Thanks for the kind words. paula

$1,000 oven??

anyone know of any other oven units available for my 1965 Ambassador. need a unit without burners as I plan to buy the seperate unit for that. $1,000 is more than I really want to spend for the oven. That's a big hit to my renovation budget.

RV oven only are hard to find

I think that the lack of availability of oven only units is why we chose the Seaward Princess. The Magic Chef oven that was in our 69 Overlander before it was broadsided worked great.....had to light the pilot light with a match but it was accurate and had hardly ever been used. You can try to find a salvage oven......try googling for used RV parts......lots of people did not use their ovens very much. You could also have the door repainted if necessary.....paula
