Need help with an old Magic Chef oven

I'm restoring a 1975 31 ft AS Sov. that has a seperate oven mounted in the wall. The oven look's as if it has never been used. I did discover a problem, the temperature control is stuck. I'm afraid to force it in fear I may break off the shaft. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get the temp control off and how do I restore the control? I want to preserve the unit if I can. Your help would much appreciated.

Try soaking it in some penetrant and leave it overnight. Try to get it down the shaft and inside the control.

BTW - you do know that you have to push in and then turn right - No offense just checkin.
