Microwave Repair Service

Has anyone experienced any problems lately with "Prototech" - the service that advertises repairs for the display on our Sharp convection microwaves? I used this service about two years ago to repair the display on my microwave and I was pleased with the quick turn around and the repairs. Unfortunately, the display failed once again but I assumed that it may be something that I was doing that could have caused the failure. That was the gist of my first E-mail to Prototech about a month and a half back. Without getting an answer, I went ahead and, once again, forwarded the display component to Prototech along with the required $39.95 to cover the repairs and return shipment. That was on August 21st. The post office confirmed that my shipment was received by Prototech on August 25th, and my check was endorsed and deposited by a William Miller on September 1st. I have subsequently sent two additional E-mails and left two phone messages in an attempt to find out when I could expect to receive the repaired component - but I have not received any response. I can appreciate delays due to unforseen circumstances but I am really struggling with the lack of response. I am approaching a critical date for an end-of-season trip in Northern New England and frankly, I would have purchased a new microwave if I had known this was going to happen. I can buy the exact same model - although only available in silver (---looks like it was custom made for Airstream) for $239.00, including shipping. Right now I'm out $39.95 plus $11.00 shipping if my repaired component doesn't come back. Incidentally, there is a long thread regarding this repair service that a search should turn up. I neglected to note the thread data when I reviewed it last night.

I'm surprised at the lack of response on this thread. Maybe I'm the first to experience any problems????

I'll bump this up one last time as a warning to anyone who might be considering sending their convection microwave display in for repairs to the aforementioned company. It has been 35 days without any response and I can only assume that I am now out the $39.95, plus the $11.00 shipping fee, plus (---the worst part) the display panel and circuit board - making what remains of the microwave "junk." With that in mind, and with a trip pending, I ordered a new microwave. I'm certain that, if I had the missing part, I could have had the repairs done by another company - but life goes on and I want to go camping!

Well, I guess it was predictable!!! I just received a shipping notice for the repaired microwave display - meaning that it will probably arrive on the same day as the new microwave I ordered. No explanation - just an apology for the delay. I wish that I had a need for the new microwave - but I'll probably just send it back to Amazon. I can't afford to keep "spares."
