Question Magic Chef Oven - Cooktop Cover

Hi all - (things are melting and we had rain instead of snow!!! a very good sign)

I am looking for a stainless steel or aluminum cooktop cover. I have seen some reno pictures with them. I have also seen many butcher block type covers from camping world that fit the Magic Chef.

Does anyone know if this was an option with the Vintage Magic Chefs.

Sorry the pic is a bit blurred but I just about went ass over tea kettle getting to the TT these days -driveway is now like a skating rink. Anyway there seems to be some sort of pin bracket that could accept a split folding cooktop cover.

Any help or direction would be very much appreciated.

Model # 165-2B (3 burner style)

Thanks SPK

Looks just like my '04. There are covers that can be purchased. I'd check with Andy at Inland and/or the factory. I seem to recall someone stating that they could be purchased seperately.

Here is another link to read just for some background, but your picture looks just like my new Safari.... Eric

Have one made

The three-burner in my '67 has an iron cover. It is presently rusted, and if it doesn't clean up well enough, I may make another one, as I am fortunate to have access to sheet metal equipment, and it is a very simple shape. I would think a local metal shop could make you one for a reasonable price.

If you are referring to the same pin bracket I am thinking about, a linkage on the cover can attach to it to keep the cover perpendicular to the cooktop thereby confining spill-overs and the like to the cooking area. Unhooking the linkage allows the cover to lay completely over.

A butcher block type cover, if made from wood strikes me as a fire hazard. But I have not seen the example you are thinking about.

A can post a picture of my Magic Chef if it would help.

Hope this type of information helps,
Tom

Here's the deal:

The Magic Chef 18" range cover part numbers are

12001057 black $34.99
12001058 stainless $ NLA

A call to Maytag is useless, the only way I could to get the part is via a local distributor (who didn't know that the part existed!!!).

Assuming the part number given to Keith is correct, there are a number of online sources for the SS cover.
THIS is one of them.

Please pardon my ignorance. Has Maytag always been associated with Magic Chef?

Thanks,
Tom

What a marvel of a Forum this is! Just a wealth of resourcefulness.

Thanks so much for all the replys and the time some of you spent looking up part numbers and everything.

Our new friends we met through this Forum - are renovating their coach and we will be the lucky owners of their SS Magic Chef Cover. We think it will fit but if it does not then I will certainly check back with this thread.

Sent you a PM Navigator - size to the pins and to the front of the cook top is 19 7/8 from pin to pin Width - Depth 18 1/4 to the front of the cook top but 18 3/4 to the edge of the Chrome side trim piece.

PS Silvertwinkie - love your Avatar!

I don't know, I'm kind of partial to the 3 eyed fish. Sort of a testimony to a commerical from a company that used to advertise on TV in the late '50's or early 60's. The commercial closed with a voice over which said "Better living through Chemistry".

Hey any of you know if those will fit a new 3 burner stove....for something like an Amana/Magic Chef that might have been installed in a 2004 Safari?
