Our stove top also was a rust magnet, I sanded it off and put rust inhibitor on it but rust spots still appeared, and it was pitted also so finally we just replaced it with a new Magic Chef (from Colaw's RV in Missouri) top in a cream color that coincedentally happens to match the Argosy. It fits perfectly and looks great for $30. Unfortunately we don't have the fold top cover.

Check the brand of the thermostat. It's probably on the oven knob. If it's a Robershaw Type BJ, I had a couple of antique/vintage gas stove vendors offer to exchange it for $130 to $140.

I bought a new one for $125 from stoveparts.net. It took a little tweaking to install (had to rotate the rear housing and cut away a small part of the range interior housing for access to the pilot control), but it works great.

We had our thermostat requilt for our 69 oven.

Associated Appliance
2318 NW 12
Oklahoma City, OK 73107

It was worth the $100 not to have to get a new oven as our oven and stove are two seperate units.

Can't help with the knob.

I need the make and model of the appliance that the thermostat is used with.

Then I can have a shot at helping you.

Andy

Magic Chef model 700 has t prefix serial number; looking from the shaft the gas inlet is on the left side with a small jet (kept it) and the outlet is to the rear line from the pilot/gas shut off is a 3/16 line and the same for the gas output to the burner/ pilot. Adjustment for the 30 second pilot (thermocouple) is beside the shaft on the left side. Thanks for any help!! PS went with a new tankless water heater that is ventless but am going to put intake and exit where the old heater is now. This one has an OSD sensor. Thanks again
