Looking for 3 grates: Magic Chef Model #165

Hello. We're refurbishing a '66 Caravel and somehow, the 3 grates to our Magic Chef got lost between owners.

If you have grates from a model #165...or something that might work, I'd love to speak with you about buying them. I need 3. All I can tell from the stove is that each grate is held in place by two pins...the holes are 7" apart.

Many thanks!

I think I have some. I know I have some off a princess, but I also junked a magic chef and have the grates kicking around the garage somewhere. Do you have a picture of what you are looking for?

Yes! Here's a picture from the last owner. I'll be elated if you have grates that might work out.

You'll also need the hold down spring clips. Vintage Trailer Supply usually carries them but they show them on backorder right now. I picked up a package yesterday at a local RV dealer that's been around since the early sixties. You can find them online but I was too cheap to spend $15 to ship a $7 item the size of a postcard. They are used on the round and square grates.

DDSTech...sorry for my late reply. I hadn't seen yours!

Those grates look great. Are there "pins" or something on the bottom, that attach to the stove-top? And if so, how far apart are they? My stovetop has two holes for each grate, 7" apart.

Also: how much would you like for them?

I will measure them tonight. I was thinking around 1000.00 each... Plus shipping. Or just the shipping...whichever you prefer....

The pins are exactly 7 1/8" apart. Does that work?

Hooray, ddstech! You strike a mighty hard bargain, but you've got yourself a deal.

Just measured with a metal ruler and yes indeedy, 7 1/8" is the magic number. This means quesadillas on our next roadtrip!!!

Do you have a PayPal account? Or would you prefer a check? You can contact me off the form at: mary@marylacoste.com

THANK YOU.

Refurbishing Magic Chef #165-found a place!

My appliance friend told me the pilot lights are not made anymore. However he found this place in Houston (near us.) The man said they do work on Magic Chef all models, they can re-porcelain them and repair them. It costs $5 for an estimate. Whoopdeedoo!

Now If I can talk my husband into thinking it is worth it. He thinks a cook top is enough. I think it is worth more with original equipment in it and like the smell of cinnamon rolls in the a.m..
