lighting old stove / range

i recently got an older trailer...about 1969 model....having trouble getting the range pilot to light....i have gas tanks hooked up to an auto regulator...but do not seem to get gas ( propane ) to the range / stove....

are there other valves to open,in the stove?

do i light the stove and then range burners will work?

any info will be heplful...trailer is about 300 miles away in n.wi. so when i get info it will have to wait till i can get there to try them

I know when I first was trying to do the check over getting familiar, I was not allowing time for the gas to travel through the lines. You may try turning your burner on to speed up the flow. I would also spray soapy water on all the fittings and check for leaks before attempting to light.

There should be a valve at the back of the stove. If it is off you will not get gas. Also wait for the gas to get to the stove by opening stove valve and use a lighter to try. Should not take took long.. Keep face back.

The top burners in our '66 have a shut-off valve on the left under the top. I can access it easily by removing the front left burner grate and drip tray. You may have to lift the entire grate tray (remove the grates and drip trays) to locate the supply line to find the valve. It is a good idea to have this valve turned off when on the road so it is most likely turned off by the PO (Previous Owner). The shut off valve for my oven is behind the oven control.

What he said. Both my 66 and 69 have that valve on the top left inder the top cover panel.

Look at the pilot light gas line. On my 71 there is a adjustment which controls the gas going to the pilot. Use a screwdriver to adjust the flame and don't burn off your eyebrows.

We have a '67 Tradewind w/ a Magic Chef 4-burner. There is a main gas shut-off to the stove where others have reported (left side, towards the front and under the porcelainized pan) plus a burner standing pilot regulating screw and an oven standing pilot regulating screw. If you want to use the oven, keeping that pilot operational is a necessity. I found that I can keep the burner pilot off and manually light the burners as I need them.

I'm currently trying to figure out how to keep my oven burner lit after it self-lights (off the pilot, of course).
