Glass Covered Cooktop

My wife and I have looked at a couple of high end touring coaches and the new earthbound rv's and saw that they are using flush mounted cooktops with glass covers in them. This allows you to use the space over the cooktop as more counter space. Can anyone direct me a website that handles these cooktops. I will be replacing the current countertop, sink, stove and oven in my '85 Soverign this fall and would like to go this route. Thanks in advance.

Tim

Tim,

This may be what you are looking for. SMEV is a well known European line, now available in North America.

Thanks everyone for your links. Joe, that is the best link I have seen regarding the smev products. Time to go spend some money.

Smev

Hi,
We've also seen the SMEV products on eBay. We've emailed the vendor questions regarding them and have not received any answers. It seems in other threads on this forum that communication and customer service from him are hit and miss. I did contact SMEV in Europe who put their US rep in touch with me just yesterday, who is a rep for DometicUSA. I haven't gotten any prices and he advised products approved for use in the US are limited. His email is art.wyatt*dometicusa.com [moderator edit: see following post before using this email addy]

Prior to that, I did contact our local Airstream dealership about getting SMEV products, and they seemed limited at what they could get and alot higher price wise than the guy on eBay. We're still shopping, but may decide on vintage appliances as our TT is a '48.

Hope that helps!
Tina

I've edited the naked email address in the previous post. Cut and paste the dometic rep's address into your email program. Then remove the * and replace it with the @ common in email addresses. In spite of it being a business email, I'm still leery of what spammer harvesting may mean to this person.

The guy on eBay is here ... I think: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f206...ops-51868.html

Thanks...

Still a newbie and didn't know about the * vs @. Thanks! Definitely don't want someone to end up with globs of spam.

Thanks again.

Tim,

Reading this thread makes me think the eBay SMEV thing might be a come on or a con.

Tina's idea to contact Art Wyant at Dometc USA is a good one. I know him over the phone and via email. He's the guy that got my SEITZ German skylight for me. Good person.

Somebody at Dometic told me he's retired. Maybe it's not true. Maybe he's doing SMEV.

If you have trouble finding him I can help you sleuth him down.

Sergei
