gas stove and heater

hi, got 1972 airstream home ok after parked 7 years, and thanks to all for advice.
found that lpg tanks were nearly full so turned one on. however couldn't get either the stove or heater to light. found pet cocks under stove and opened each. tried auto spark on heater without lighting pilot. couldn't get stove to light or even hint of gas.

is there another valve that needsto be opened. opened tank, turned selector to that tank. could hear gas hissing in line and could smell just a hint of sulphurous odor.

any advice appreciated.

You could try hooking up an air hose and try and blow air in the lines first.... If the air doesn't come out there must be another valve.. Did you follow the lines from the tanks under the trailer..

The tanks should have a regulator, that drops the pressure, within the first foot or so of the hose leaving the tanks. To test for gas crack open any connection beyond the regulator, with the tanks on, and see if you smell gas. If no gas there remove the hose from the tank and crack the valve again smell. If gas at the tank and not at beyond the regulator replace the regulator. If nothing from the tank take it to a propane shop for inspection.

There could be a chance that spiders have webs in the orfices of the units. Spiders love to nest in those areas. Why? I can't answer that but I have had some problems with mine in early spring after being down for all winter. Also pull the lines off at the regulator where they go into the feeder lines for the trailer. when I purchased my 98 unit I had a low pressure problem with full tanks. I pulled the rubber lines off and they were full of oil. My propane dealer said somebody had overfilled the tanks or had them upside down at one time and the oil from the propane had run into the lines.

What should you do if your ex removed the regulator?? I am going to have to replace EVERYTHING in my 74 Sovereign....

I had same problem lighting my MC oven. There is a separate shut off on the wall mounted oven, if you have that. The actual problem was the gas line to the oven was clogged. I separated each joint and ran weed eater string through it to unclogged it. the obstruction was under the trailer just after the line "T"ed off from the supply. The oven lit and works perfectly.
