does anyone know of a pretty stainless exhaust hood that is 110v and can exhaust out the top rounded vent that is existing in our overlander, they use to have a gas fridge ducted thru there i believe, now we are putting our stove over there (have small elect. fridge) thanks ... i found a black one that may just get and use but would love to find a stainless small or aluminum ? size wise i suppose must stay with rv one right? others are so huge.
You may be able to find an apartment size range hood and then fashion an adaptor to fit the existing vent. If you're at all handy with sheet metal, I'll bet you could make one yourself out of aluminum or stainless and a standard extraction fan assembly.

thanks, my husband is quite handy that is prob. the way to go... we're putting new aluminum walls inside right now so perhaps we'll have some extra.. or could strip and refinish some of the old aluminum into one...if only more time, trying to finish our house remodel and get on market by end aug. plus finish interior walls on airstream so can move it to the town husband works in.. he, I and our akita Keiko are going to live the winter or more in airstream. should be cozy ha.

You can produce a template for a 2-dimensional surface with a story stick easier than you can with a scribed line -- and produce a level or parallel top or bottom line if you think it through. The 1950s Airstreams with up to 13 end segments were produced with flat sheet. My big project this next winter is a major and high-end rebuild of all our home kitchen cabinets. I am still thinking about an exhaust hood based on these old Airstreams. Maybe I'll look for a separate squirrel cage fan. Under hood light? If can handle the metal work it should be easy to do that up to code. I'd listen to any fan you wish to install. Current OEM Airstream hood fans are noisy -- see Pahaska's comments here and here and here. In addition -- anything in the Broan product line had better be listened to before you latch on...
Other ideas -- many local companies can custom make stainless countertops. They could probably produce a hood if you give them the specs.

I don't know what style of range hood you're interested in, but there are a lot of great, modern designs out there. I would recommend that you pick up a copy of "Dwell" magazine from your local news stand. There are tons of adverts by various kitchen millwork companies, etc. as well as photos of real homes that might illustrate something that interests you. One caveat though, this magazine tends to be geared towards the modern, which is my taste, but may not be yours. However, it may offer you a starting point in getting familiar with who is making these hoods. Broan is not your only option. In fact, IKEA has a few stylish options. I believe they are made by Whirlpool.

the problem with some of the italian and other designer fans is the size... husband thinks we need to keep it smaller, smallest is 30" wide the rv ones are 20 inches about right i suppose but not too pretty. but I'll keep looking at them, the ones on lowes website are 30 in. but only 70.00 for stainless..not as fancy as the italian designs not sure what the width of my 3 burner wedgewood drop in is but with no upper cabinets planned there perhaps can do a 30" wide ?
My friend's recently acquired '51 Flying Cloud has an original range hood in it. I am thinking my winter project may be that I might "borrow" it (yes, I'll tell him) and see if a local tin shop can replicate it for me. As for internals I'll hit the used RV place and acquire one out of an SOB to rob the internals out of (fan/light/screen assembly). Alternatively they sell new ones for RV's in pretty much every RV parts shop I've been in although some of them look pretty cheaply made.
I found one from an italian co. that is glass and stainless and only 24" and it only sticks out 19" from wall vents vertically so hooray... found on ebay for 299 is gorgeous! (i prob. should have just gotten a 90.00 one that was black but oh well i will cut costs somewhere else, ..some are over 1,000 so i did use restraint ha.... besides we intend to keep this for always eventually use as guest room some. found a great sofa at world market today for it as well. fun day for me.
One option, probably expensive, would be to contact companies that fabricate hoods for restaurants. These are just about all one-offs. They are used to working in a variety of sizes.

It looks like it has already ended. I looked at the listing and it was without the motor. Says he has not removed it yet, so it comes with out the fan. Not much use with out the fan. That is what usually goes bad. I guess its no surpise that it did not sell.
