Do you use your oven?

Was inspired by another post "do you use your shower".

Reason why asking, we are moving up from a Westfalia, probably to a 19' and are wondering about the oven.

NEVER, EVER even though about having one. Can see the value in having a microwave, though. AC, yes. Shower, YES. But have not seen any Bambi's without an oven. Thoughts on this? Are we missing something? Thanks, Steve

Depends on how you camp and how you eat. If you stay at campgrounds with electric always, a microwave will work. If you don't or like to cook biscuits, bread, pizza and such, then it won't.

We use the oven and would not like to be without one.

Bill

Old idea, but still a good one.

See How Many People Actually Use Their Oven?

I use mine, and the microwave too.

Have both oven and microwave. Use both, some things cook / taste better if done in a regular oven. Don't need power for the gas oven either......Cheers.....Phil.

had the trailer 4 years and camped probably 14 months or more and 5 caravans in it. have never used the oven. we use the oven for a bread drawer and to store the toaster oven. would opt for a trailer without an oven.

We use Lucy's oven about twice a year, Thanksgiving and Christmas, in Jacksonville. Other than that we use the oven to store our pots and pans while on the road.

I agree with InsideOut...Gotta have those cinnamon rolls and cookies that come in the tube. When I was a little kid and we would go camping the tube of nestle chocolate chip cookies was a tradition along with Jiffy Pop popcorn on the stove.....I remember bartering with my sister and brother over who would get all the "good" Kellogs cereal boxes. I always ended up with the Raisin Bran, 40% Bran Flakes and Special K while they enjoyed the Frosted Flakes, Apple Jacks, Fruit Loops and Sugar Pops. Obviously I was not a good barterer....

I use mine a lot, on par with the microwave. I bake chicken, cornbread, pies, etc. I've used it to heat pans of enchiladas. I would not be without it.

Don't even have one, but the microwave has a convection oven built in...it's the best.

Bought a microwave when we bought the a/s. After 2 seasons of camping have used the microwave one time - to bake a potato (and now know that we could have done it in the oven as we do at home). I have been batch cooking and freezing meals, so we use the oven a lot to heat these meals. Also like roasted vegtables and corn bread that you really can't do without an oven. In addition, the oven works without shore power. Given how we cook I would get rid of the microwave way before the oven. Another comment is that we almost always try to cook outside - the good old BBQ.

I've spent a lot of time on boats so an oven is an absolute. No need for microwaves for this chickie...
