Dangerous microwave location

Hello, I wonder if any Airstream owners have problem with the microwave location above the fridge in many new airstream models. I think it's very dangerous and not practical to deal with hot beverage and food at that high level. My wife is 5' and can't even reach the control panel. I would like to hear from the Airstream owners with the same microwave location of how you manage to use it safely. It's an accident waiting to happen.

Which Airstream model do you have? If you have not purchased one yet just get another model with a lower microwave. If you already own one with the high microwave then why did you purchase it knowing this?

Only solution would be to remove the microwave. Have your dealer order matching cabinet doors and hardware to cover opening and make a storage compartment. Buy a countertop microwave.

We have the opposite problem...our convection microwave is below the stove top. Have to get down on your knees to see the control panel.

Remember, these are small space homes on wheels. Stuff gets put where space allows. Airstreams didn't originally come with microwaves. They hadn't been invented yet.

There is a model Flying Cloud, I believe it's the 28, that if you get the regular stove with the oven then you cannot get a microwave. There just isn't a space for it.

Some models put the microwave in the slideout pantry. That's where our 26U goes so we opted for the convection microwave so to have more pantry space.

There is always a trade off when it comes to the microwave. Most of the ones installed in trailers and motorhomes aren't high enough wattage to be much use anyway.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or one. Yes this could be dangerous, remove the unit and put it on a table top or lower shelf.
