Could it be possible?
For a few days now another thread has been discussing the disappointing or expensive choices available for RV stoves with ovens. (And how difficult it can be to obtain the good stuff, even if youíre willing to pay for it.)
A certain Dometic model with electric ignition piqued the interest of many, and Iím responsible for bringing it to their attention. I still think sheís a stunner, but I have a bit of a dilemma. My purchase of the fancy stove is waiting a few months. We have some family obligations coming very soon that will involve traveling with our Airstream, so weíre going to complete as much of our remaining punch list as needed for comfort before embarking. I canít tell my daughter we wonít be coming to her college graduation because Mommy bought a new stove.
The fly in the ointment is the custom countertop I want to make. Bob Jones RV was actually able to get ordering information from Dometic for CU-434. Still, when Iím ready to order it, that may have changed. I need to know for sure the dimensions of the appliance Iím putting into the kitchen before I start my countertop. Once the countertop is finished there wonít be adjustments for something whose size is even an inch larger. And Iím still kind of attached to the original Magic Chef with her 4 burners and sturdy construction.
My question? Could it be possible to upgrade the old MC with new guts, such as safer thermocouplers which come with the electric ignition and sealed burners? Iím thinking some outdoor kitchen professionals might have the correct parts and possibly the know-how to make the transisition. The old girl was already going to get a face-lift, so why not a complete make-over?
