Convection/Microwave?

I am about to purchase a 2006 Airstream Safari LS SE that comes with the standard oven. Has anyone actually removed the standard oven and replaced it with the convection/microwave. I know you can select it as an option if you are ordering a trailer from scratch, unfortunately the trailer I am buying is already built.

Hello izzy -- The Thinking about replacing oven with microwave thread might be of assistance. It helped us make our decision. Yes, the oven is under-used in summer weather. It makes the trailer inside get so hot. I haven't become an expert in our convection microwave but Susie has a few things mastered -- like heating good bread so it gets hot at stays crusty.

I think the installed LP ovens are integral with the stovetop, so you'd have to find a separate stovetop and deal with the installation of each. The factory installed convection microwaves have a separate stovetop too.

If you are "about to purchase" I would say that all things are negotiable. So make the replacements a part of your offer if you still can. Be prepared to walk by having scouted other dealers.

I ordered a convection Microwave with my 06 Classic 31. While I like it, I wish I had the gas oven too. While boondocking I need a generator to bake anything. The Honda EU2000i will run it with the eco throttle off. I have considered putting the gas oven cooktop in but i loose three drawers. Then I have not Idea where i will put my utensils, kitchen tools and storage bags/wax paper/tin foil....
