Broken Oven Door Handle

Good grief, something else has gone wrong. The door handle on my oven broke, at the bottom right in front of the screw. It's really a pain to open and close now and super glue didnt work. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can use to replace it? I cant imagine that I'll find something with the same space for the screw holes but maybe if I just get a knob or something for the bottom one? I'm sure I can figure out something if I wander around the hardware store but I wanted to ask the experts first

We lived with it for a year untill we finally found a handle for it. BTW I have the rest of the oven in storage that the handle came off of if you need any other parts.

I have a handle that will fit it - two screw holes line up exactly - then drilled two more to match the four total in the handle. It's basically a flat handle with an arched front. It's gray but looks fine and won't break like the original.

Found it in a dusty pile of parts at a local RV dealer. Could check to see if they have another - I think it was $22.....

Find a steel towel bar that doesn't stick out too far...

Won't bother with a picture but I found a nice steel towel bar in a brushed aluminum finish to replace our '31 Sov's plastic oven door handle after it broke.

I looked for over a year to find a match, but in the end we're happier with the towel holder as it does just that. There hasn't been an issue wtih it catching on you as you walk past, since it doesn't stick out too far.

Look around and you'll find a good replacement. The bar I found was a round cylinder/rod with set-screw adjustable brackets that slid inward to fit the existing mounting holes in the oven door.

The handle on our '78 Tradewind's oven was broken when we bought it. We went to a local appliance repair man, showed him what we had, and he sold us one that had similar ends although the bar of the handle was much longer. We separated the bar from the ends, cut the bar to fit the oven width, and reassembled. The whole thing cost about $10.

Wow, great ideas, thanks! I think I'll head to the hardware store in the next few days and look at the towel bars, I like that idea- especially since I'm always losing the hand towel

Can you post a picture? I removed the oven from my Argosy. It may fit. It's yours for the cost of the postage.
