1968 Magic Chef Oven

Is there a replacement pilot light assembly for the 1968 magic chef oven?
My oven is in great condition, but one of the pilots is stopped up, and I am afraid I will destroy it getting it apart in order to clean it......Any input appreciated !

I found an NOS replacement part and will have a stove guy install it in our 68 Caravel's Magic Chef on Monday. I'll let you know how it turned out and can pass on the source assuming I bought the correct part.

It turned out to be the wrong part for the oven. It didn't match what was in the stove. My appliance guy is searching again for the correct item.

Received a message from our stove guy today. No luck so far. We are both still looking for the part.

I saw a 67 Caravel this weekend with a more contemporary (new) Magic Chef. We may search for one.

Let me know what you find and I'll do the same.

part for oven

mkcurtiss and SilverWind, I don't know if it will help but there is an ad in the classifieds from a person (mp2deming) selling parts from a 1967 Sovereign that they are gutting to use the shell as a stained glass shop. They may have the oven or stove you need. Hope this helps, Ed

1968 Magic Chef Oven

In addition to my previous post there is also another ad by (ShelbyFlesh) who state too many parts to list from a '68 Sovereign that might have parts available. Ed

Also an ad by (Zcashio) for a '68 Ambassador that lists a stove. Ed

Replacement Parts

A fellow was having trouble with his 1973 Magic Chef oven in this thread:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f426...em-185420.html

The punchline is to the tale is "The phone number for Replacement Parts is 800-433-7146. They are located in Everman TX. I've sent my valve and hopefully it will come back in good shape. I'll post a follow on my experience with the repair."

Hope this helps,
Tom

The company is called Repco ! Talked to them today. Am sending my entire pilot assembly to them and the lady said they could probably rebuild it. Don't have any idea what it will cost, but it is sure to be cheaper then a new oven, and I really want to keep my original oven if possible, and if it is safe .
She said they were not so much a parts supplier, as they were "rebuilders".....Thanks to all who provided info! I will follow up with progress report after I get it reinstalled.......will have new furnace installed by then as well .

Our pilot assembly is a bit wonky - the burners will light if we use a match as the ignition tubes were not attached when we purchased our 66 Safari. I was able to re-attach three of the four, but the center pilot light will not light. I am going to try to carefully clean it, but at least at this point we are able to use the stove top. Question is - our oven thermostat is bad as the oven just heats and heats. We are trying to locate a replacement thermostat, but at this point would it be better to purchase a new range?

Any thoughts/recommendations are welcome and appreciated.
