Why does my fridge freeze my food?
My fridge on my 08 international 19' freezes my food. Is there a way to change or adjust the temp?

Ours will also if we turn it down to the coldest setting, and it's not too hot outside. Don't know about the specific frig you have, but ours has a temp setting on the front, top, above the door.
I've never seen one that didn't have a temp setting.

Look inside the refrigrator.
On the back wall in the refrigerator, you will find an aluminum heat exchanger with five or six fins.
On one of the fins you will see a plastic clamp with a wire running from it.
Sliding this clamp up and down regulates the shared cold between freezer and refer.
It is sometimes called a thermistor, but I'm not sure that is technically correct.

My fridge was also freezing food and not staying lit during high winds on my last outing. Possible bad thermocoupler for my refrigerator as well?
It would stay lit during calm conditions but it would get blown out easily by wind.

Check the LPG pressure.
It should be between 11 and 13 inches of water column pressure. Best to be at 12 or 13.
Next, clean the burner, the orifice and the reefer flue.
Lastly, the above will keep the burner going, but the freezing usually means the thermocouple has braoken and then can't tell the burner to back off.

What Alumaholic said. If it is too cold, move it down. If it is too warm, move it up. I had a friend that had packed his fridge a little too full and in doing so, moved this little device down too far. Something must have banged up against it. Things got warm and when he looked at the plastic thing he noticed that it looked different.
I would try this first. Then you can get into those other "parts."
Good luck.

Followup question
Hopefully Armando won't mind another question on his thread -- I think it's relevant.
How much variability should we expect with outdoor temperature when running propane? We seem to see variations that cause freezing at times when the outdoor temperature drops.
Thanks,
John

Different Configuration of Thermistor
All,
I too am having this same issue where my fridge is on its lowest setting before being off and its still freezing my food. I've noticed the wire coming from the back of the fridge and going up to the aluminum fins. It is held in place with a metal "W" channel and screws and is not directly attached to the metal channel.
So how exactly would I "slide" the probe up or down? Should I just loosen the retaining channel and pull the wire down?
Any help would be appreciated.

When the reefer thermostat no longer controls the temperature, it tells you that it's shot.
Typically, the thermocouple breaks because of vibration, making it useless.
What causes it to break in time ??
Improper running gear balance, bad rubber rods in the axles, and sometimes extra heavy duty tow vehicles and/or hitch ratings.
But, the fix is to replace whichever thermostat is bad, and then correct the cause of the problem.

The "W" channel holding the probe can be slide up or down on the fin (mine is plastic, not metal). I believe sliding it down on the fin causes the temp to be warmer. Try that.
Usually people have the opposite problem of the fridge becoming too warm because the thermistor (probe) has gone bad.

The fridge is freezing because the thermostat probe tubing is broken.
Therefore there is zero feedback from the reefer to the thermostat.
Accordingly, the thermostat tells the reefer to "cool" since it has no info to work with.
What causes that tubing to break???
Lack of proper running gear balance (vibration).

Sometimes over rough roads that probe just simply falls off- or the metal part that slides up and down has just fallen off and is lying on the shelf-

Is improperly balanced running gear the only cause for anything to break?

I think bad roads around here would beat it to death even with Centramatics...
My Velcroed curtains in my other trailer used to fall off the windows.
I come in the trailer and I be like, "Hey! Where's my curtains?"
Curtains be behind the couch.
I have found the metal part you slide up and down to control temperature just lying on the shelf. I assumed it vibrated off over time traveling bad roads.
All roads are getting worse. Ain't nobody got no money to fix no toads...

If the aluminum tube is vibrating, it will fatigue and break.

1997 safari Dometic RM 2652
Correcting prev input. RM 2652 is correct model. Replaced OE thermister with a Articca adjustable thermister. NO change. Fridge still too cold. AC power only so far. Have NOT run on propane yet. After changing the thermister, what part would be next to look at ? Have been turning fridge on and off to keep temp somewhat under control. Something needs to be telling the AC heater to stay on vs: cycling on and off to maintain proper temp. All input is appreciated.
