If they think it's worth their time to go out and get it.

If your still looking for that latch any rv dealer that stocks your fridge should be able to order it. I got one last year and I think it was around $10.

It's funny that you should bring this back up as I am still looking for this and was just thinking about it. I doubt many RV dealers still stock parts for a 1979 Dometic.

Hmm, anybody remember what model of Dometic is in a 1979 International. The trailer is too far away for me to go look right now.

Hi,
If it's the self-defrosting, three-way model, it's the RM-100.

Dometic secure door latch
The door latch was missing on my dometic ('78) but I found some small marine cabinet latches that work really well and don't look too strange?
The extra retangular piece is a spacer that keeps the hook from traveling too far when the door is open so that you can still swing it shut without holding the latch out of the way. You can open it with one hand.

Where did you find this latch? It may come in handy for me in the future.

More pics, anyone?
I have a 75 sovereign with original refrigerator. The manual mentions door latches, but there's not enough of the latch left on the refrigerator to even tell how they may have worked. I do have some plastic fins with round detents that are attached to the refrigerator that I assume were part of the latch. There are also holes with plastic grommets on the top and bottom of each door. I can't tell if the two doors have a common latch, or if there is supposed to be two separate latches. If someone could post some more detailed pictures of the latch on the door, it might help me figure out how what parts I need and how to fix it. The bungee thing works, but is not convenient or easy to remember, and a little redneck for even me, lol.

latch
old thread but, I need this latch too. I have a 73 RM75 Dometic. I don't really understand how the latch works, is it inserted or does it swing/pivot? Thanks John
