What to do?

I have a 1978 Argosy with a M100 Dometic refrigerator that is in good working condition. My concerns are due to it's age and that we do mostly boondocking and I am replacing the floor, would it be better to replace the unit with a new RM2620 or apply the ' if it isn't broke don't fix it rule?
Also How hard is it to install the new RM 2620 unit?

If it were me and there was no reason to suspect problems, I wouldn't worry with it. If you do decide to switch it out, it is a straightforward job. Propane line, electric, a 12 volt line for the ignition hardware, and bolts it to the floor.

My M50 (pink elephant) Dometic is still working from 1961 vintage. As I see it, you have at least 17 more years to go on yours.
As my dad always said, "Run it till the wheels fall off."
The worst that could happen is that you have to get a chunk of ice to get you through........

Thanks for the advice, I will let it go till it decides to retire.
Now I can get the front rock guards, two Fantastic Fans and still be under my original budget. Or was that just the tip of the ice berg?

I'm setting my AS up for boondocking most of the time. Because of the power consumption, I just decided to take the frig out completely. Mine was really heavy too so it lightened the trailer. What I've done instead is install a huge marine ice chest. I can put 2 blocks of ice in each end and over 2 weeks of groceries in it. The newer models are so efficient that they can keep food cold for a week in 95 degree weather. My experience has been at least that good. In moderate weather, a fill of ice is good for 2 weeks easy. Sometimes the simplest things are the best
