Switching on the Electric Knob

I am thinking it may be time to replace the fridge but I just don't want to, you know what I mean? I pulled the fridge out of our argosy to burp it, but before I did I could turn the knob to electric and it would sort of cool down. Once I pulled it I can't turn the knob to the electric choice, just gas. I tried for an hour or two with a buddy to figure out what was going on front back to front. But when I push it in it seems the lever in the back either isn't getting pushed in far enough or is off track, I don't really know.

My wife is ready to replace it, I am not. I'd like to save it if I could.

Any advice is welcome and helpful.
