Rm 2451

We have a 2005 19' Safari, bought off eBay in May, we have camped about 8-10 weeks, the refrigerator works great. The door seems to be collapsing down towards the hinge and jamming it. We can push it up and in and it will close. We will be in Tuscon for a while. The question is, do we replace the door only, or do we replace a 10 -11 years old refridgerator. We plan to use the camper 4-6 months a year.

Any other suggestions?
Thanks

A refrig can last for many years, and as long as it works why not repair the door? Perhaps if you can post some pictures of the problem, a remedy can be offered. It sounds like a shim to lift the door may be needed.

1. Why replace the refrigerator thats working? Propane refrigerators work for years. Have it serviced. Replaced one in a '66 AS - because we wanted a larger refrigerator - it was an undercounter. Worked great!

2. "The door seems to be collapsing down towards the hinge and jamming it."
The hinge is the thing(s) that hold up the door - if the door is sagging - fix hinge! No need to replace a perfectly good door.
Even if you have to replace hinge(s) - it's a lot less expensive to replace than a whole door - and you still will have to fix (replace) the hinge(s) that are causing the problem.

The frame of the door is broken by the hinge on the bottom. If I figure out how to post a picture, I will. I can sit it with a slight push at the bend, and at the latch. But today on a bumpy section of road the door must have flown open and shut itself! Stuff was on the floor, thankfully not the eggs...
