Replacing old fridge

Our 1955"s original fridge is long gone. We would like to replace the "replacement fridge" with a stainless steel model. We would like it to run on propane and 110 as well. Any sources I should check out?

All of the new fridges require some type of a panel kit. You could get one of the new ones that suit your needs and contact a local Stainless steel fabricator to have panels cut to fit. I needed a small peice for a projecct and they were very helpful. 21 3/4 X 3 inches ran 16.00.

Most of the current Dometic RV refrigerators have the option of installing trim panels on the door(s). While stainless isn't one of the regular options, it should be easy enough to have a panel of the appropriately sized stainless steel cut by a commercial kitchen vendor. I might also suggest considering a 3-way RV Refrigerater - - the 12-volt comes in VERY handy for travel as it keeps the contents perfectly cooled during travel without the dangers of running on propane (I have one in my '64 Overlander and wouldn't trade it on any other refrigerator - - it is on my list of not too distant future addtions for the Minuet). I will admit to disliking propane appliances so my Refrigerator has only been operated on propane for a grand total of three hours in three years - - I can't count the number of hours that it has operated on either 12-volt or AC electric modes.

I got my new fridge from a local Camping World when it went on sale.

I would suggest just keeping an eye out for a sale at the local rv places around you.

You can check the dometic website for replacements based on size. That way you will know what your looking for.

I found my Camping World did not want to work on my vintage trailer. Don't know that I would trust them to anyway.

If you cannot do it yourself, I would recommend that you look for an Airstream dealer familar with vintage units to do the work.

It's not that they are any different, it just seems like some of the RV places only want to work on newer units.
