Question Refrigerator Trouble - 2008 Bambi

Hi,

Need help-just purchased a 2006 Bambi-the refrigerator initially worked on both electric and propane. Will not work on either now. Fuses are ok 110 & 12V.
Any ideas? Propane tank full and on and plugged into 110. 12V battery fully charged.
thanks,
Catherine

Is it level? Do you have it set to auto? I'm not sure what it could be?

The fridge must have 12v to operate.Did the battery disconnect possibly get switched over to the storage position?

Open the lower vented outside door and gingerly feel the boiler. That is the aluminum stovepipe looking thing on the right. It should be quite hot to the touch.

If no heat at the boiler, it could be circuit boards or power. If you can lay hands on a voltmeter, check the voltage on the lower left where two wires come in to a white nylon terminal block. You can poke the meter leads down through the holes on the top of the terminal block to touch the screws that clamp the wires. If no power there, it is probably a fuse or breaker.

If the boiler is hot, then open the upper vented door and feel the fins inside. The fins also should be hot to the touch. If there is heat below and not up top, the fridge has probably lost its ammonia charge. $$$$$

The check button should come on only in gas mode. That would imply that the box is not seeing the AC power. You might unplug the fridge temporarily and plug in something like a lamp to insure that you really have AC right at the fridge. On mine, the AC outlet is right above the bottom louvered door.

In gas mode, there are a number of reasons why it might check. If the propane has been turned off for a while, you will usually get as many as 4 or 5 check lights before the lines are finally purged of air. It takes me as much as 15 seconds to get the stove top to light the first time and a lot more gas moves there.

Something like a spider or mud dauber can cause the gas to not light or divert the flame from the sensor. That is a sure check light.

Check to make sure the 120 volt outlet for the fridge has 120 volts, and no circuit breakers are tripped. Check the fuses for the fridge, there should be one on the circuit board as well as the one in the breaker panel. If you have 120 volts and all fuses are good, you likely need a new circuit board for the fridge. There seems to be a rash of these in the last few days. you're the second one here today.

Hi Everyone,
did as all of you suggested and-no blown fuses, no breakers tripped. So stopped at Airstream repair shop in Eugene, Oregon on way home. Diagnosed as a bad electrode part #D2931132019 and replaced. Think I'll do another short run close to home before heading out on a long trip!

Thanks to Everyone,
Catherine
