Refrigerator temperatures-time
Awhile back, one of the forum members was asking about how long it took to get the refrigerator cold. I started packing for a weekend trip yesterday so I filled the frig. with cokes, orange juice and Crystal Light. I ran a test of my Dometic 100 frig. on 120 volts temp knob set on 4, beginning at 5:50 p.m. with the following results:
Time Temp
5:50 p.m. 84
6:50 84.5
7:30 84.2
7:48 79.7
7:53 79
8:15 76.3
8:30 74.1
8:45 72
9:00 69.2
9:15 67.6
9:30 65.7
9:45 64.2
10:00 62.8
10:15 63.3 lost signal from remote sensor and had to open door to frig.
10:30 62.4
10:45 60.3
Went to bed
6:30 a.m. 36.5 WOW

Temps
Were the drinks at room temp when you loaded the reefer?
How full was the reefer when you were done loading it?
Wonder how long it took to get to 36?
Gas or electric?

A 12 pk. of Pepsi and two 4 pks. of Crystal Lite were room temp as was the bottle of mayo, ketchup, mustard and one icetray with water in freezer. An 8 pk. of Sunny Delight orange juice, qt. of milk, fruit cups, and jar of pickles were pulled from the frig. in the house and were cold. A pkg. of 12 pork chops, hotdogs, pkg. of cheese slices, bacon and deli ham were put in the frig. as were 2 frozen ice trays just before I left which made the temp rise slightly due to the door being opened. I shut the unit off around 12:30 p.m. when I left out. The trip took 2 1/2 hrs. and the frig. temp was at 56 when I arrived at my destination. All this was testing with electricity. When I got to the camp site, the breaker on the pole kept tripping so I had to start the frig. on propane. My trip was a fiasco due to a malfunctioning 120 volt system in the trailer but the frig. was kept cool on propane. Check out the particulars in the Community section.

After having the 110 volt electrical fiasco at the campground, starting the frig. on propane, fixing the 110 volt for 2 hrs., switching back to elec. on the frig. to only have to switch back to propane for the next 2 days says a lot about that '77 Dometic RM100 frig.

Wow
D,
Well, from reading all of your posts about your latest trip, it sounds like a thrill a minute.
So if I need some excitement I contact you for a ride in your bullet.
Shocking times, truck accidents, wasps .... any fire works?

Action,
While at the campground, a boat went by, lit and threw a firecracker near shore. Everyone looked around and thought it was me being fried. All I could say was "What? It isn't me, I'm still alive!" I did come back to find that the TN. state legislature has failed to pass a budget for 2002. Some 22,000 of us working for the State of TN. were told to stay home. Thank God I have 315 hrs. of annual leave, 91 hrs. COT and 3,800 hrs. sick leave built up. We are on annual leave until they pass something.

D,
Well at least you can depend on the reefer to keep your drinks cold (even if it's only on gas, thank you A/S for having a back up source of power to cool the drinks!). And sounds like you have some opportunity to keep the reefer filled!
Best of luck to ya for the remainder of July.
