Refrigerator door won't click shut

Our refrigerator door stopped "clicking" shut. We always make sure it's propped open when we store it. But last time we moved the trailer, we noticed it didn't make the "click" sound when we pushed it shut.

Should this concern us?

Our warranty ends at the end of this month. But we just had some warranty work done and we don't really want to take it back again if we don't have to.

Thank you!

Yes, it should click into place in order to keep it from coming open while you are underway. You should be able to see the little plastic clip fall into place. You should be able to see if the clip is broken.

Thank you Brian! I appreciate your response. I guess it goes back to the dealer for more warranty work.

Our refrigerator door stopping "clicking" too. A closer look revelealed that there is a screw with philips head behind the tab that clicks. The screw had backed out during towing, and prevented the tab from clicking properly. I tightened the screw and the door clicked shut.

When the screw backed out a second time, I had the dealer fix it permanently under warranty. I think they used some kind of compound on the threads to keep the screw from backing out. That was about a year ago, and have not had a problem since.

If the fridge door does not click when closed, it will probably open and swing freely while underway, which would not be good. Definitely something to get fixed.

If fridge door swings open while under way it will likely break a hinge mount and do a lot of damage. I have first hand experience with that.

If the screw is the problem, after warranty work if they don't use it, try some LockTite from an automotive parts supplier

My 76 douse not have lock for frig door so I have coleman stainless cooler that I place in front of door /throw rug to protect door, never has come open. Would like to find old style [swing locks that keep both doors closed]. Plastic Brand name frigi locks are junk. 60 eras used pin that dropped into doors was good idea but now history for 70s frigs. Any have ideas?

Next time you are at an RV place ie Camping World, RV America etc.. Ask if you can look at old refers they have removed and replaced. You might find what you are looking for.
