Refrigerator Chimney

Has anyone made a chimney out of aluminum or other material for their Airstream. I am trying to see if it will work using 1/8 or 3/16 aluminum (heat build up issues). I have one made out of light weight aluminum for a pattern. Unable to find a used one and new ones are from 169.00 to over 300.00+ shipping VTS is out of them. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. This is all I like completing my cabinet install and installing my frig. Did not find any info on the Forum.

I'm considering doing the same thing. The aluminum thickness (1/8 to 3/16) you are talking about seems way thicker than necessary. When you say you have heat build-up issues, please elaborate. Also, where did your thin pattern come from, and what is wrong with it?

I made my pattern from aluminum you use on a facer board on a house it is 24" wide and I needed 23 1/2". I had some left from a job. I put it together rough to see how it came out and it fits perfect to my wall, I bent some for angle and notched it to fit the curves then fastened the sides and front with rivets. Was wanting input on thickness due to heat that comes off the frig, probably not that much. May use some aluminum I had left from repairs on the skin and caulk the seams with caulking made for high temp to avoid any chances gases or heat trying to escape into the interior. It is cheaper than buying one. Thanks for your response. If I new how to send you a pic I would show you what I did. Jim

I would like to see a picture. When you reply to this post, look above the little window you are typing in, and you should see an icon that is a little paper clip. I vented mine out the bottom through the belly pan using muffin fans, works great.
