Refer madness!

So I'm replacing the current bar fridge with a Dometic Rm24 3 way and have ran in to a little snag. I have a space at the top.
Now, I don't mind a little carpentry but I just want to make sure the refer is installed the right way the first time.
Can I leave it on the floor with that space and build a drawer for utensils or does it need to be built up to the chimney?
When doing a search I've seen both versions of install. So with is it?

I have found on occasion that the installation manual did not arrive with the new appliance, this has happened with both my new furnace and hot water heater.

If you don't have one I would get it. And then follow the installation instructions. It will cover all the installation requirements. That will be the safest way to make sure it is installed correctly.

With a gas burner the chimney should be there to provide combustion draft, I think it also is there to let the heat removed from inside the refrigerator out.

I would expect the combustion chamber and chimney to be outside the trailer to keep CO from entering the living space; but once again the manufacture will have this documented. On my recent installed I found the manuals on the manufacture's web page.

The problem I have, is the manual is for installing in a Sob trailer\moho and not an As. Could I build a wooden enclosure that butts up against the chimney? Or would it ideal to just build a raised platform?

All you need is a mostly airtight bulkhead at the rear of that opening flush with the back of the reefer case. You want to maintain a convection flow up the rear of the reefer to remove heat and combustion gases. Airflow should come in the lower vent and go out the top vent and stay separate from the air in the living space. Leland

Thx for the info. That I can do. Unfortunately when we laid our tile down we placed it where the fridge would go. Due to the bar fridge. So a heat sheild would be necessary under refer so they don't melt?

Probably not -- most of the heat is generated in the back, off the floor.
