Picture of refer vent

Can anyone post a pic of how the fiberglass refer vent hooks up to the roof for mid 60's AS?I have a couple of pieces loose and I want to see if I have them all.

Do you mean the vent, or the vent cover? Is it the interior scoop, or the outside part?

refer vent

Terry,
The top opening has been sealed with a patch and an elec. refer unit used.I have an oval insert that fits in the hole and a fiberglass scoop that I removed from the wall.It had maybe a foot cut off the bottom I assume to make room for the elec. unit.
There was nothing metal behind it(just vinyl wall) should there have been? Thanks.

No, just the scoop against the wall. The oval insert goes on the roof, and the cover goes over that.

Do I need to fiberglass the missing bottom? It looks like about 8 in. is cut off.

It vents the back of the fridge to the outside. As long as you seal around the back of the fridge and up to and around the vent opening so all of the blow off from the fridge goes up and out, you should be fine.

Here is our blog when we rebuilt the cabinets around the fridge and sealed the vent scoop up:
http://www.airforums.com/forums/blog...ce-galore-656/

We used a gasket where the shelf above the fridge sealed to the vent scoop, silicone sealer (although not what was originally used) to seal the separating walls on each side of the fridge to the interior shell and foam seals around the fridge between the separating walls and sides/top of the fridge. This will push any gas from the back of the fridge either out of the access door vents or up and out the top vent.

Steve,
I found some photos of our fridge and vent after removing the original walls but before the new to show you the seal that went around the fridge (little hard to see but...). Look in these photos and you can see the strips of wood that ran up the sides of the fridge. They also ran along the top. These had foam with stickers on one side that stuck to this strip. Then when the separating walls were put on each side and the shelf above, the foam made a seal. Then seal the separating walls to the aluminum trailer sides and shelf against the scoop.

Please disregard the mess... what a mess it was.
