OLD Norcold tripping GFCI

I have an OLD Norcold compressor fridge that when plugged into a GFCI, trips the outlet. It also stopped working on 12v when towing. Seems to work fine when plugged into a standard outlet or 30 amp. Freezer is ice cold and fridge stays in the lower 40s on hot days. Any ideas where to start?

Figured out the problem today, which wasn't nearly as complex as I was afraid it would be. Always a good thing and quite simple really--a loose wire at the thermostat. Click image for larger version

While this thermostat is working fine, anyone know where I'd find a spare?

I have salvaged stuff from those old Norcold's and might have a thermostat. I will look when I am next at home, but right now I am evacuated due to forest fires.

Thanks for checking whenever you have a chance. What fridge are you using currently anyway?

Be safe out there!

I use Dometic propane/electric refrigerators in my trailers, but became familiar with the Norcold swing motor 12/120 volt compressor units when I owned a GMC motorhome, that used them as original equipment. I still have two spares that were given to me.

How do you like the level of cooling of the Dometic vs the Norcold?

BTW, I'd be happy to purchase spare parts from your old Norcold if you'd like to part with them. (e.g., upper and lower door seals, thermostat).
